DELIVERY DRIVER ROUTE AND SCHEDULE OPTIMISATION

ANC Delivers

Background/ Context

ANC is the last mile delivery partner for many of Australia's leading brands including Bunnings Warehouse, IKEA, Telstra, JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Williams-Sonoma, Fuji Xerox, Blackwoods and Bunzl. Every year, its fleet of more than 800+ accredited drivers move over 1.5 million consignments weighing tens of millions of tonnes, travelling more than 50 million kilometres.

ANC Delivers commits to achieving Net Zero by 2030. To accomplish this, they are implementing a comprehensive decarbonisation plan that includes optimising logistics routes and commencing the transition to commercial EVs within five years. In the past year, 100% electric Pantech trucks, LDV vans and tuk tuks have been added to the fleet.

ANC Delivers will optimise logistics routes to minimise fuel consumption and transportation-related emissions. Through the adoption of advanced route planning technologies and the implementation of efficient delivery schedules, they aim to streamline our transportation operations and reduce the overall environmental impact of their supply chain.

The increasing demand for e-commerce deliveries has amplified the need for the optimisation of driver schedules and routes critical for reducing carbon emissions and improving delivery times. Implementing algorithms or tools can adjust and optimise routes in real-time based on traffic conditions, delivery windows, weather information, and other variables, thus reducing unnecessary miles travelled and improving fuel efficiency. This can be coupled with a system that uses historical data and predictive analytics to forecast delays or route disruptions, allowing preemptive adjustments to schedules.

How might we assist drivers in optimising their delivery routes and improving the efficiency of their schedules?

A scheduling solution that aligns with both customer delivery windows and environmental goals can minimise idle time and ensure drivers can complete the maximum number of deliveries with the least environmental impact.

REQUIREMENTS

The solution should consider real-time traffic data, weather conditions, package size and weight, delivery urgency, vehicle capacity, and carbon emission rates.

PROOF-OF-CONCEPT/PILOT

ANC will provide a minimum of S$8,800 to fund the POC/pilot. The level of funding from ANC will be assessed based on the proposed POC/pilot project.

Enterprise Singapore is augmenting this support with a S$20,000 POC development grant. The POC Development grant will be awarded to startups/SMEs incorporated in Singapore for projects with overseas pilot deployment potential. Foreign startups/SMEs may be considered if developmental activities are based in Singapore and only if a Singapore office is incorporated.
